AI voice management

Your contractual bridge: protecting consent, fair remuneration and control over your voice and likeness.

We offer voice bank management as part of our responsibility as agents. We are not a voice bank, nor are we setting one up. We act as the contractual bridge between our clients and the companies seeking to bank, license or use their voice. Our purpose is to protect the performer: scrutinising proposed agreements, negotiating payment and defining the permissions and limits of use before a client decides whether to consent.

Your agent. Your contractual protection.

We represent the performer in the contractual relationship, helping turn their wishes into clear, negotiated terms. Where a client chooses to explore voice banking, we work to ensure they understand and explicitly agree to the proposed use before proceeding. We negotiate fair remuneration and clear terms covering who may use the voice, for what purpose, in which territories and for how long, including any restrictions on training, cloning, onward licensing and reuse.

Consent to one job must not be treated as permission for unrelated or unlimited use. Further uses need to be covered by the agreed permission and payment terms, or separately negotiated and approved. We also scrutinise provisions for renewal, termination and what happens to recordings and voice models when an agreement ends.

Protection as contracts evolve

AI provisions increasingly appear in performance and audiobook contracts, even where AI is not the reason a client accepted the job. Our role is to scrutinise those provisions, explain their implications and seek terms aligned with each client’s wishes. Some performers welcome these opportunities; others do not. Both positions deserve proper representation.

Our aim is to prevent a client agreeing to a job without fair usage pay, then finding their voice or likeness used beyond the scope they knowingly approved.

Your choice comes first

Participation is entirely optional. We respect clients who do not want their voice used for AI cloning, training or testing. We record and respect those preferences. It is our responsibility to review each AI clause proposed by the contracting party with you, explain what it means and ensure your wishes are reflected in the terms. Declining AI participation does not affect our commitment to representing you.

For example, a production company may want to use AI to translate your performance into 10 languages, using your voice for the show you have contracted for. We want you to choose whether and how that works for you, with clear limits on use and fair remuneration agreed before you consent.
